Dr. Troedhan founded the TKW-Research-Group in 2007, developing applications, ultrasonic tools and surgical protocols for ultrasonic-surgery-devices and is co-patent-holder of the tHUCSL-INTRALIFT application as well as the flapless Crest-Splitting-procedure. His scientific focus is centered on research in ultrasonic surgical applications and biomaterials in dental implantology, guided- bone-restoration and maxillofacial surgery and scientific cooperations with ENT and Neurosurgery-disciplines to introduce ultrasonic surgery, his worldwide teaching activities are committed to the distribution of knowledge and praxis-training of oral-surgeons in ultrasonic surgery and implantology. In this commitment he currently chairs the International Academy for Ultrasonic Surgery and Implantology (IAUSI) as President.

About the workshop:

Mills, drills, burs and low-frequency oscillating saws were the only tools for bone-cutting for a long time and their use rarely questioned on their biological and physiological effects on bone-healing and osseointegration, especially when compared now with new technologies such as Piezotomes.
The workshop will start with a short basic revision of current knowledge of bone-healing, bone-regeneration and osseointegration, followed by a detailed comparison of technology and of the physical and biologic impact when drills and piezoelectric devices are used to cut bone.
The major part of the workshop then will be dedicated to the presentation of newly developed minimal invasive Piezotome surgical procedures and their advantages for both the surgeon and patients with video-demonstrations of basic and advanced Piezotome surgical techniques. Starting with Piezotome-ridge-preservation in tooth extractions for simultaneous implant insertion the participants will be introduced also to more basic and advanced bone-surgical techniques with Piezotomes. Each surgical technique then will be trained ex vivo on specimens as a hands-on.
